    I know how she feel, I remember that conversation about my significant other and 5yrs have past and he’s a lot worse now, he won’t take medication. I try to get him out of the house but it’s getting harder.

    My grandpa has Alzheimers and he’s in the late stages already, he’s bed ridden and can’t do anything from himself anymore. I remember when he’d do this test and now he can’t do answer or comphrend anything shown in this test. It’s just so sad, the disease just takes everything away from you. And now, it’s just hard for me to imagine a time 5 or so years he was able to even attempt this test because it’s so bad now

    People actually get counseling after dementia diagnosis? My husband has been diagnosed twice and has not had any support. How does one get counselling like this in Michigan? Does our PCP make the recommendation for this?

    How can they make a diagnosis without amyloid showing up on brain scan? I see this is 9 years old!

    I personally find the interviewer very calming and knowledgeable. My brother 81) has just been diagnosed with dementia. His doctor is one of the rudest I have ever encountered!! I am basically educating myself.

    The doctor mentioned that the nurse did tests with him. I saw the doctor doing memory tests with him and I thought he did pretty good. Counting backwards by 7, I could not do in graduate school. I just never did that kind of math in my head.

      had blood work done this past month and when the doctor walked in the first thing he said was you have the blood of a child. Told him i take supplements and he said keep doing what you are doing. Wife and i take no meds.

    This is an excellent video very clear information and it was made 9 years ago! The Doctor is an excellent communicator and provides a good balance of information, empathy, realism and positivity. Very frightening disease it must be awful to be labelled but maybe a relief too if positive support to navigate is available. I’d love to know how this family is doing, they are so brave to share their story, thank you.

    The man being tested had a very good sense of humour. My Mom passed away from dementia at 93, not a pleasant thing to go through for her or the family. I find i do these tests just to see if i have any signs. The funny thing is that when they give you the 5 word test, i have done so many that i remember the odd word from the test i did 6 months ago. Must be something with the long term and short term memory. My mom's long term memory of things she did as a child remained into her last year but her short term memory had left 3 years before. People who deal with this in their lives every day have to have patience and empathy. My mother in law now has alzheimers so my experience with my mom has taught me that. Such an unpleasant disease.

      Yeah it’s so sad. Im sorry, my grandpa has it. He’s in the late stages and it’s so bad he can’t do anything for himself. So seeing this test, I can’t comprehend how he managed to do it 5 or so years because he literally couldn’t do a single thing on it now. It’s so sad

    Good doctor, they must feel helpless in the face of a disease they can't cure.I hope the couple had given permission to share this tragic moment in their lives.
